I hurt my back this morning. I wish I could tell you that I was doing something amazingly spectacular. This would be a much better story if I got my injury from bungee jumping. Or maybe parasailing. Running with the bulls? Something even more mundane might work… An old bowling injury? One too many games of twister? Pulling a heavy turkey out of the oven?
Seriously, any of those would be more interesting than what actually happened.
I was drying my hair.
Yup, that’s my story. I was drying my hair and I felt a pop in my back and then a sudden onset of pain. I couldn’t move. Not to the left. Not to the right.
If you haven’t noticed, I have three kids and my youngest is 15 months old. This is not good!! Baby E had his 15 month check up this morning and I quickly came to the conclusion that I wasn’t going to be able to do this on my own. I can’t get him in the car. I can get him out of the car. I can’t pick him up at all! This was compounded by the fact that Tim didn’t get home from work until very, very, very late and he was running on practically no sleep. Ugh. I can’t move and he can’t stay awake. But we need to get the baby to the doctor. We compromised. I drove (I know, I know, not a good idea) and he lifted. Together we could be one functioning human being!! Seriously, that drive was painful. Goodness, breathing was painful. But we did it! Then we dropped the kids off at daycare and came home and I slept ALL day. I was hoping when I woke up I’d feel better, but I didn’t so I got to the chiropractor this evening. I’m still in some pain, but I’m hoping that tomorrow will bring even more relief!
Meanwhile, Baby E is still sporting an impressive sized head. He’s in the 20th percentile for height and weight and is still off the charts for his head. Poor kid! He’s slightly behind developmentally where he should be, but I’m neither surprised nor concerned. It took him so long to do things like walk and crawl because of his head, that his fine motor skills need to play catch up. Every baby develops differently and he is right on track for him!
